Opuntia - Tutorial

Learn how to paint this opuntia with watercolors!

This opuntia flower is an exciting subject to paint. The petals are lit by the sun from behind, which always adds more interest to a painting and gives more drama. We can see nice highlights on the edges too. The background is simple and smooth. We’re going to practice the wet-on-wet technique in the background, but the cactus is painted with mainly wet-on-dry technique.
